1. Do not fall in love with people’s potential for you might as well dance with a shadow that may never appear.

2. Live a legend by making your life art. Do ridiculous things just for the sake of the story. They are all that you’ll have at the end.

3. Realize when it is time to end. This is the place where it is strange but no longer exciting, when it is painful to speak truth even at a whisper.

4. Time is the most expensive resource you have. Spend time frugally on creating meaning with people, and spend money quickly to create more time. The clock is always ticking.

5. Home is where you can share the weight of life. A community is as simple as a weekly meal, and can be as complicated as a long-distance relationship. It only works if everyone is putting in the work and showing up for each other. If you can’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of others. Put your mask on first before the plane goes down.

6. Play as hard as you work. Wear costumes but not masks. Disguising yourself only delays the discovery. Dye your hair, put on a onesie and dance until sunrise. Your tribe will find you by the morning with glitter in your hair.

7. You find out about someone by going back to where they’re from. Go far so you can feel close. Family can wound and heal equally so take them in small doses to build up a tolerance. It’ll be the most important poison you’ll take, as family can be an antidote for an unfulfilled life.

8. Be selfish in the things that you make. If you don’t enjoy them, nobody else will. Give gifts to the future you and life will always get better, just give it time.

9. The most worthwhile things happen at the point at which everyone else would give up. Give out challenge coins to friends that join you on wild adventures that push the boundaries of the possible. At the edge of the world is when you discover perspective.

10. Don’t compromise on working with the best. Ask your heroes for help, learn from anyone who has done it before, share your lessons loudly and proudly. The best ways of learning are to apprentice to the masters so that you might become one.

11. Broken hearts, skinned knees and unfulfilled dreams all share something in common: hard lessons. Run towards those lessons, no matter how painful, no matter how scary so you don’t get fooled again.

12. Love completely, utterly and fully. Burn hot and heavy like a bonfire and find someone who burns just as bright as you. That’s the only way to find someone who sets your world on fire.
